Equipment

  • 1 Blender or Food Processor

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups tightly packed fresh basil leaves
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup pine nuts
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 clove garlic crushed with side of a knife
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • sea salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Combine the basil, cheese, pine nuts, cayenne, and garlic in a food processor or blender.
    2 cups tightly packed fresh basil leaves, ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, ¼ cup pine nuts, ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, 1 clove garlic
  • With the machine running, slowly pour in the oil.
    ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Blend until mixture looks bright green and thick, about 45 seconds.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    sea salt, ground black pepper
  • *Note: if the pesto seems to thick use a little water at a time to reach desired consistency.
