Tips for Creating the Perfect Burrata Board

  • Use High-Quality Ingredients:
With such simple ingredients, quality matters. Look for fresh burrata, ripe cherry tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil with a fruity flavor.
  • Fresh vs. Toasted Baguette:
While I love the softness of fresh baguette slices, you can toast them for extra crunch. A quick brush of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt before toasting adds even more flavor.
  • Chiffonade Basil for Elegance:
Cutting the basil into thin ribbons (chiffonade style) not only looks beautiful but also distributes the flavor evenly. You can find my tutorial for how to do this on my YouTube channel!
  • Serve at Room Temperature:
Burrata is best enjoyed when it’s creamy and soft, so let it come to room temperature before serving.

Tools You’ll Need

  1. Serrated Knife: For slicing the baguette cleanly without crushing it.
  2. Large Serving Board: A wooden or marble board works beautifully for presentation.
  3. Small Bowls: For holding olive oil, balsamic vinegar, or extra salt and pepper on the side.
  4. Cheese Knife or Small Spoons: For serving the burrata.

Health Benefits of a Burrata Board

This dish isn’t just indulgent—it also packs some surprising health benefits:

  1. Burrata: Creamy and Protein-Rich
Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made of mozzarella and cream. While it’s a treat, it also provides a good dose of calcium and protein, which are essential for bone health and muscle repair.
  2. Tomatoes: Antioxidant Powerhouses
Cherry tomatoes are bursting with lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that supports heart health and may reduce the risk of certain cancers. They’re also rich in vitamin C, which boosts immunity and promotes radiant skin.
  3. Basil: More Than Just a Garnish
Fresh basil doesn’t just add flavor—it’s also packed with vitamin K, which is essential for bone health, and compounds that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
  4. Olive Oil: A Mediterranean Staple
Drizzling the board with extra virgin olive oil adds heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and antioxidants that can reduce inflammation and support overall health.

Serving a smaller group? Feel free to scale down the quantities—this versatile board is just as delightful in a more intimate setting. But let me tell you, when I entertain, this burrata board steals the spotlight every single time. It’s a guaranteed hit, disappearing before you can say “delizioso!”—there are never any leftovers!
